Juvenile Rose-breasted Grosbeak

One day at the log cabin I was so excited to count 7 grosbeaks flying around my bird feeder. Of course as soon as I retrieved my camera - they all disappeared. Later on, this juvenile male grosbeak appeared in the tree. I hope he hangs around...I have more sunflower seeds....

LOL, he looks so "messy"! Hard to believe he will grow into a beautiful adult someday.

I've heard the rose-breasted grosbeaks in the woods every day but they haven't been coming to the feeder since May. Joan

Great picture. I've never seen a juvenile before. I'll have to keep my eyes open since we still have a few around here.

You are so lucky to have grosbeaks! One of our favorite things about migration is the arrival of the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. They sometimes stay around for two weeks and then travel on. They are such lovely birds.

Since they don't stay around, we've never seen a juvenile. Thanks for sharing this great picture.

I get so excited when I see a juvenile in the yard. My favorites this year were my baby red belly and cardinal. They are so adorable!! And your grosbeak baby is too.

Wendy - he is looking rough!

KJ - he will blossom soon!

Eco - When my feeder is empty, the females line up on my deck railing like hawks - I need to get a photo of this!

Richard - hope you seen one soon!

NC - I would imagine they are getting ready to leave me soon..and then go to your care!

Jessica - I love your juvenile red bellied - the cutest ever!

Grosbeaks, just to see one. Know what you mean I am having the hardest time with the Goldfinch and Cardinals not hanging around for their portrait sitting. HA!
